INSIDE THE FIREHOUSE

Join us as we visit the men and women of Station 6 in Columbus, GA

Columbus Fire Station 6 is an active fire station in the Columbus Fire & EMS system located at 1126 Brown Avenue. It’s part of the city’s network of fire stations providing fire protection, emergency medical response, and other rescue services to the community.

The Columbus Fire Department originally began with a small volunteer force with hand-pump engines, wooden ladders, and leather buckets — fostering a strong sense of unity and pride) that became a hallmark of department culture.

Sitting proudly on brown avenue in the heart of midtown, station 6 is one of the oldest and most storied firehouses in Columbus, Georgia, a station built on tradition, honor, and excellence.

Brown Avenue is more than just the station’s address—it defines Station 6’s first-due territory. Known as “Brown Avenue’s Bravest,” it has served a city that spans more than 220 square miles as one of The busiest stations in the department. Their crews respond to calls ranging from structure fires and medical emergencies to technical rescues and hazardous material incidents. When incidents involve hazardous materials or unknown threats, it’s the firefighters of station 6 who are called to the front lines.

Station 6 isn’t special because of its equipment, call volume, or history, it’s their people. It’s the sense of family that runs deep, laughter in the kitchen between calls, unspoken trust on the fire ground, and the pride that comes from wearing the number 6 on your sleeve. Their motto, “Brown Avenue’s Bravest,” isn’t just a name—it’s a way of life.
