Barstow Federal Fire Station 402 is located on the Yermo Annex of the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Barstow and has served the installation and surrounding community since the base was established during World War II. The station is operated by the federal government and specializes in truck and rescue work. Station 402 is located in the Yermo area near Barstow, California. The station operates with two captains, each leading a crew of five to seven firefighters. In addition to handling emergencies in its primary response area, Station 402 frequently assists nearby communities through mutual aid agreements, working closely with the Barstow City and San Bernardino County fire departments.


Station 402 is a key player in regional fire and rescue operations, known for its professionalism, technical skill, and commitment to mutual aid.
In 2008, the MCLB Barstow fire department, of which Station 402 is a part, was recognized as the "best large fire department in the Department of Defense". This came on the heels of the department being named the best large fire department in the Marine Corps in 2005 and 2008.
 

In addition to responding to emergencies on base, Station 402 has a history of running mutual aid calls with neighboring fire agencies, including the Barstow city and county fire departments.
