Clackamas Fire District Station 71 entered into a contract for service with Sandy Fire District 72 in 2023, and is the main station located in the heart of Sandy Oregon. Station 71 covers three planning zones totaling 77 square miles and contains only two volunteer stations. Currently, they have two career units responding out of the station: a 24/7 staffed ALS Fire Engine with 3 personnel and a 12-hour ALS staff Type 6 Rescue with 2 personnel.

When developing the station logo and building onto the station pride, they chose to incorporate the Oregon Trail wagon, because part of the Oregon Trail runs through Sandy. Mt. Hood is the backdrop in the logo because it is just East of the station on Highway 26. Mt. Hood is serviced by Hoodland Fire District with whom they provide mutual aid. They chose to call the station "The Outpost" due to the proximity, or lack thereof, to the administration and core stations - it's about a thirty-five-minute drive to Station 71. Along with the location, the name is also fitting because of the size of the planning zone; the end of the "first due" area can be miles from the station.
